An adventuring party assembled from across the world, bound together by shared purpose and the particular chaos that follows Mathieu Stonebow wherever he goes.
Son of Youren and Shae, raised in Lotan Village on the frontier edge of the Endless Forest. A graduate of the Founder's Academy. The party assembles around him — by design in some cases, by the particular chaos he generates in others.
A half-orc warrior from the Thrak'zar Orc Tribe, navigating the distance between two worlds and the expectations of both. His strength is genuine. So is his need to prove it.
A Half-Human/Small Folk trained at the War College of Forgehold. His Small Folk heritage gives him an ageless appearance and a gift for observation that routinely catches what everyone else missed.
A pirate of the Free Port City States who operates with no loyalty to any crown and a particular talent for getting out of situations that should not be survivable.
A bronze dragonkin knight and Zeke's partner. Investigating the operations of the sorcerer Velgaphor and his general Vascolyth, whose enslaved creature armies drove him across the frontier and eventually into the company of Mathieu's party.
A druid and ranger who found an injured wolf pup in the rain and spent two decades building a partnership with the creature. Blessed by the Nature Siblings Cernun and Sylvanna, Gregori and Clifford operate as forest guardians drawn into something much larger than either of them planned for.
A Sun Warrior of Niss who underwent the Golden Change — the rare physical transformation that marks an act of extraordinary selflessness — at age seventeen. He joined the party seeking to understand his gift and what it asks of him.
A pixie of the Faewild's Crystal Court who crossed into Aethoria seeking adventure and found Mathieu Stonebow instead. Their initial encounter was a contest of magical wit. The outcome was a reluctant invitation that became a permanent arrangement.
Seventh son of Kharza, war-chief of the Black Wolf Clan. He received the sacred Path of the Axe and wields Soulrender, an ancient weapon forged to fight undead and death magic. He arrived as an adversary — certain the party were the necromancers corrupting Hordratic lands — and stayed when the truth became clear.
The Mischief & Marmalade Party did not form by design. It assembled — piece by piece, crisis by crisis — around Mathieu Stonebow, whose particular talent for finding trouble in unexpected places has a way of making strange allies out of strangers. What holds the party together is not a contract or a cause but the kind of trust that builds between people who have stood alongside each other when things went wrong and chose to stay anyway.
The name itself reflects the nature of the group. The mischief was inevitable. The marmalade appeared at some point and nobody quite remembers how. The party operates without a formal hierarchy — Mat's tendency to be at the center of whatever is happening gives the group its general direction by default, and the rest of them have made their peace with that.
The party draws its members from an unusually wide range of cultures, institutions, and corners of the world — a Founder's Academy sorcerer, a Hordratic warrior, a Free Knight of Urudu, a Sun Warrior who underwent the Golden Change, a pixie of the Faewild, and a pirate who answers to no crown. What they are investigating — controlled grimlock attacks, enslaved creature armies, necromantic corruption spreading into Hordratic lands — connects threats that have not previously been understood as connected.
Their active pursuit of Velgaphor and Vascolyth (the black dragonkin sorcerer and general behind the enslaved armies) has taken them across the frontier and into northern territories. The scale of what they are uncovering is larger than any of them anticipated when they first fell in together.
