Gregori & Clifford

Gregori Tannen was once a simple man living on the forest's edge, a broken veteran of the skirmish at Kolvrath's Pass where he watched fifteen of his friends and brothers-in-arms cut down by Eastern Orc raiders. He alone survived, having been knocked unconscious early in the fight and mistaken for dead. When he awoke among the corpses, something in him had died anyway.

The Unintended Bond

On a stormy night, Gregori found a wounded wolf pup, not more than a few weeks old, with a broken leg. Despite his initial intention to leave it, the pup's persistence—following him home and refusing to be abandoned—eventually broke through Gregori's walls of isolation and grief. He named the pup Clifford, after a cliff overlooking a river ford where he had once found peace.

As Clifford grew, Gregori discovered something remarkable: they were developing a mental bond, sharing thoughts and emotions. This bond deepened over time, healing Gregori's wounds and giving him purpose beyond mere survival.

The Blessing of the Nature Siblings

Years later, while checking his trap lines, Gregori and Clifford encountered a white stag caught in a snare—a creature of legend, said to be a messenger of the gods. Rather than taking the valuable pelt, Gregori released the stag, showing mercy where he might have taken gain.

This act of compassion brought them before Cernun and Sylvanna, the Nature Siblings—divine guardians of the wilderness. The gods blessed their bond, transforming Gregori into a druid and granting Clifford extended life and enhanced intelligence. They became Guardians of the Wild, protectors of the forest and all who dwell within it.

Guardians of the Wild

For twenty years, Gregori and Clifford have served as guardians of their domain, protecting the forest from corruption and dark forces. They have extended their guardianship to include nearby human settlements, teaching them to live in harmony with the land. Their bond has grown so seamless that they can communicate as clearly as if sharing a single mind.
