Fauna - Mineral Forager
Iron Boars are distant cousins to the Gorrimm with incredibly dense bone structure and tough hide containing high amounts of metal.

Physical Characteristics

Iron Boars are distant cousins to the Gorrimm, earning their name from their incredibly dense bone structure and tough hide. Their bristles contain high amounts of metal, giving them a distinctive metallic sheen and incredible resilience. They're significantly larger than normal boars but smaller than the Gorrimm, specializing in rooting up mineral deposits that regular boars couldn't access.

Metallic Composition

The Iron Boar's bristles contain high amounts of metal, creating a distinctive metallic sheen that sets them apart from other boar species. This metallic composition provides incredible durability and protection, making them formidable creatures that few predators dare to challenge. The metal content in their bristles also helps them detect and access mineral deposits.

Mineral Foraging

Iron Boars play a crucial role in their ecosystems by unearthing mineral deposits that enrich the soil and provide essential elements to the surrounding flora. They're often found in the same territories as Mountain Tortoises, following their tunnel-making activities to access new mineral deposits. This symbiotic relationship helps maintain soil health and mineral distribution.

Size and Strength

While significantly larger than normal boars, Iron Boars are smaller than the Gorrimm, placing them in a unique size category among Aethoria's megafauna. Their dense bone structure and tough hide make them incredibly resilient, allowing them to thrive in harsh environments where other animals would struggle.

Ecological Impact

Iron Boars contribute significantly to soil health through their mineral foraging activities. By rooting up mineral deposits, they help distribute essential nutrients throughout their territories, benefiting both plant life and other animals. Their activities also help aerate the soil and create microhabitats for smaller organisms.

Predator Relations

While not as aggressive as the Gorrimm, Iron Boars are still formidable creatures that few predators dare to challenge. Their metallic bristles and dense bone structure provide excellent protection, while their size and strength make them difficult prey. Most predators prefer to avoid direct confrontation with these well-armored creatures.
