About the Game
River Stones is an ancient game of strategy and calculation, traditionally played with stones or seeds. The game board represents the flow of trade along a river, with each player managing their side of the waterway.
Game Rules
Setup:
- The board has 12 small hollows (6 per player) and 2 larger end stores
- Place 4 stones in each of the 12 small hollows
- The large end hollows (stores) start empty
- Each player controls the 6 hollows on their side
How to Play:
- Choose a hollow on your side
- Remove all stones from your chosen hollow
- Moving counterclockwise, place one stone in each subsequent hollow
- Special rules:
- If last stone lands in empty hollow on your side:
- Capture all stones in opposite hollow
- Place captured stones in your store
- If last stone lands in your store, take another turn
- If last stone lands in empty hollow on your side:
- Game ends when one player's side is empty
- Player with most stones wins

- Keep stones on your side when possible
- Use multiple turns to set up captures
- Watch for endgame opportunities
