Description

Umbrath is a lithe figure wreathed in living shadows, with skin like polished obsidian. Their features shift between masculine and feminine, never settling on one form. Their eyes are pools of dark wisdom that seem to absorb light. Tattoos of ancient secrets writhe across their skin in scripts too old to read.

Mysterious but not malevolent, Umbrath seeks and guards knowledge others fear to know. They speak in riddles and metaphors, teaching through subtle guidance. They show particular interest in those who seek forbidden wisdom for noble purposes.

The Radiant Line

As the middle sibling of the Radiant Line, Umbrath occupies a unique position between the radiant justice of Soltharion and the arcane knowledge of Mystara. Where Soltharion illuminates truth, Umbrath guards the truths too dangerous to be freely known.

Umbrath's relationship with Lumara, Soltharion's wife, is one of mutual respect - she heals the wounds of body while Umbrath protects the secrets of the soul.

Divine Purpose

Umbrath dwells in a vast library of shadows, collecting and protecting dangerous knowledge. They move through the world's darkest places, gathering secrets and testing those who seek them.

Their temples are often hidden, accessible only to those who have proven themselves worthy of forbidden knowledge. Scholars, spies, and seekers of truth all pay homage to Umbrath, though each approaches the god of shadows for different reasons.
