Whisper

Whisper is a Shadow Fae who was exiled from Faerie for showing "excessive compassion" for mortals. Shadow Fae are typically tricksters, cold, and detached, but Whisper helped a human child find their way home instead of leading them astray (the traditional fae game). The Fae Court exiled her for "unbecoming softness" and banished her to the mortal realm permanently.

She wandered until The Vale recognized her gift for finding lost things. She has worked at the Academy for approximately 80 years (time is difficult for fae).

Appearance

Whisper appears as a slight woman with grey skin, hair like smoke that constantly shifts, eyes that reflect light like a cat's eyes, and she fades slightly in bright light while solidifying in shadows. She moves silently and often startles people.

As Keeper of Lost Things, Whisper maintains a small office near the main entrance, filled with found items organized by emotional significance, not type. Her collection contains thousands of items from 80+ years—everything from scarves to love letters. She knows the story of each item and returns them with perfect timing.

Special Gift

Whisper can sense the emotional connection between people and objects. She knows exactly when someone will return for a lost item, understands why objects matter to their owners, and sometimes returns items before students realize they're lost. Students swear she's magical (she is, but not how they think).

Famous Moments

• Returned a grandmother's ring to a student the day before she planned to propose
• Kept a child's toy for 15 years until the owner returned as an adult seeking closure
• Once returned an item to a student who lost it 3 years before graduation, saying "You'll need this tomorrow." The student did.

Whisper speaks in whispers (hence her name), is gentle, kind, and empathetic. She collects lost items obsessively, feels emotional attachment between people and objects, and is patient—she will wait years for an owner to return.

In Faerie, she was punished for caring. At the Academy, caring is her job. This is perfect redemption for her.
